Welcome to East Woodhay Parish Council's
Neighbourhood Plan Page

EXTRA DATE ADDED: Tuesday 3rd August 7-8pm, Woolton Hill Church Hall

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our consultation at the village market on Saturday 17th July. We had 49 responses and an overwhelming majority in favour of the Plan.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

It is a document which shapes where we live by stating the Vision, Objectives and Policies for all future Planning Applications in the Parish.  It has been written following consultation with members of the Parish over the last few years and is an opportunity to influence what happens next. This plan links the previous Village Design Statement and the Parish Plan.

Why is the Neighbourhood Plan important?

It influences development – where new buildings should be placed and what they might look like.

It seeks to ensure that any new development reflects community needs.

It helps to maintain the rural character of the Parish and protect Green Space areas.

It facilitates access to funds for the Parish from developers – funds which can be used for our schools and for projects within the Parish e.g. the Parish Field all weather path or new equipment in the playgrounds.

Will it affect future Planning applications?

Yes, it is a planning document with legal standing. Planning applications will have to take account of the policies contained within the Neighbourhood Plan (once it has been approved at referendum).

What happens next?

The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group is undertaking Community Consultation to gain further input and to update the document.

Then it will be subject to formal independent review.

Finally, every resident will have the opportunity to vote on the document. This is really important, as the document can only be considered ‘valid’ once it has a majority vote of support from the community.
